As the show is coming to an end, what is going to happen to the characters?
Amid the ongoing WGA-SAG-AFTRA strike, many beloved shows have been delayed indefinitely. As a result, CBS’s flagship dramas and comedies, such as NCIS and Young Sheldon, won’t be returning for a new season this fall, as indicated by the network’s programming schedule. There is one exception, though: Yellowstone will be returning with part two of its final season.
When it premiered in 2018, Taylor Sheridan’s Western series became an overnight sensation. The show has spanned five seasons and given rise to numerous spin-offs. Two of these – 6666 and Lawmen: Bass Reeves – are set for release later this year. Yellowstone follows the Dutton family, owners of Montana’s largest ranch. As the fifth and final season draws to a close, dramatic events are anticipated, including potential character deaths. Here’s an estimate of each character’s likelihood of surviving until the show’s end:
9. John Dutton – 10%
Portrayed by Kevin Costner, the patriarch of the Dutton family and the show’s central character, John faces the slimmest odds of survival. It’s rumoured that the actor’s departure from the project prompted its premature conclusion.
8. Jamie Dutton – 18%
John’s son, Jamie, hasn’t endeared himself to fans. Given his tense relationships with other characters, his death in the finale wouldn’t be a shock.
7. Rip Wheeler – 29%
A character cherished by fans, Rip frequently finds himself in difficult situations. Being John’s right-hand man might place him in the line of fire.
6. Lloyd Pierce – 37%
In contrast, Lloyd isn’t particularly popular among viewers. His potential exit in the finale might not stir strong reactions. Seeing how there is no real need for him, Sheridan might choose not to spare him.
5. Beth Dutton – 51%
John’s tumultuous daughter, Beth, resonates with the audience. Her pivotal role suggests the potential for a sequel, meaning that she’ll probably be kept alive, just in case.
4. Thomas Rainwater – 65%
As Dutton’s adversary and casino owner, Thomas is surprisingly endearing. His anti-colonial ambitions further cement his importance to the storyline.
3. Kayce Dutton – 81%
Having endured much in recent seasons, John’s youngest child, Kayce, should hopefully avoid a tragic end.
2. Jamie Dutton II – 92%
Though threatened by his own aunt, Jamie Jr., being a secondary yet charming character, is less likely to meet his maker in the finale.
1. Jimmy Hurdstram – 100%
Perhaps the most beleaguered character in Yellowstone, Jimmy has faced his share of challenges. However, since he’s no longer on the ranch, his safety seems guaranteed.
