Unquestionably, one of the most recognizable faces in Hollywood is Kevin Costner. Unlike many actors who appear on the big screen for only a short while, Kevin has remained a celebrity in the business for years. His skills are limitless, and he has achieved success both in front of and behind the camera.

While Costner can surely take pride in his professional accomplishments, it appears that he is facing another marital problem as he will be soon a single man again after his wife filed for divorce after 18 years of marriage.

This isn’t Costner’s first split, but it’s definitely a well-covered one, even before divorce proceedings began.

Costner’s first marriage was to Cindy Silva, whom he met while studying at California State University, Fullerton. The couple got married in 1978 and went on to have three children together: Annie, Lily, and Joe. Costner’s career was just beginning to take off at the time, and he quickly became one of Hollywood’s most sought-after leading men.

Despite his busy schedule, Costner seemed to prioritize his family and often spoke about his love for his wife and children in interviews. However, after 16 years of marriage, the couple announced their separation in 1994, much to the surprise of their f ans.

In a statement at the time the actor said, “After 16 years together, we are ending our marriage. We have amicably resolved all issues regarding our children and financial affairs and a full marital settlement has been reached.”

While the reasons behind their split were never made public, sources close to the couple claimed that the pressures of Costner’s career and that he had been having an affair with a celebrated hula dancer named Michele Amaral while he was filming Waterworld in Hawaii may have played a role.

Although the couple had decided to end their marital relationship, Costner admitted that he still loved his first wife amid the cheating reports.

He said, “It was hard on Cindy and our children. It didn’t help things. The only thing it did was hurt. The collapse of my marriage was the hardest thing of all for me.” He then went on to express, “You can put this on the record. Through all the pain, Cindy’s been what I always thought she was a real lady. I still have love for Cindy.”

Kevin Costner and Cindy Silva were the perfect couple at the time, having lasted for more than a decade in marriage, but things apparently didn’t work out in the end for them. Now, it appears the actor will be heading towards that same road again as his second wife has filed for a divorce.
