Yellowstone fans, Kevin Costner just spoke out about his future in acting.

On May 5, viewers of the Paramount Network series were shocked to learn that Yellowstone would end after season 5. Variety confirmed the news and added that part 2 of the show’s episodes would air this November instead of its original Summer 2023 premiere. The unexpected news came months after speculation that Kevin wanted to leave the Taylor Sheridan-created drama, with Deadline citing it came after the actor proposed “to spend a week shooting” the last six episodes.

Although Kevin didn’t speak out about Yellowstone ending, he did break his Instagram silence about Horizon: An American Saga, the project he’s currently directing and starring in. “The epic that keeps getting more epic,” he wrote on May 1, uploading a screenshot of a Deadline article announcing Glynn Turman, Kathleen Quinlan and Giovanni Ribisi joining what The Salt Lake Tribune describes as a four-film franchise.

When fans noticed Kevin breaking news of his latest movie online, they started reacting in the comments section. “Please don’t leave @yellowstone,” one person pleaded on Instagram. “Please don’t quit Yellowstone. You make [our] lives better with this show. There is no Yellowstone without you,” a different user begged. “I’m sure this will be great however can you please let us know if you are seeing Yellowstone out or what??” another follower asked.

While it’s still unclear whether the Dances With Wolves star will continue on with Yellowstone, he’s not staying silent about his latest project. Kevin first spoke to Variety about the project in June 2022, which will follow a 15-year period during America’s Western frontier and “focus on both the settlers as well as the Indigenous groups that first occupied the land.” He also explained his process of filming the four movies, which are currently being made over the course of eight months.

“It’s a really beautiful story; it’s a hard story,” he explained. “It really involves a lot of women, to be honest. There are a lot of men in it, too, but the women are really strong in Horizon. It’s just them trying to get by every day in a world that was impossibly tough … They didn’t ask to be in these territories that were unsettled and dangerous, and life wasn’t easy. I’ve chosen to make sure that was really obvious.”

What’s more, the Hatfields and McCoys alum noted the significance of the project to People in November 2022. “Horizon is incredibly meaningful to me. It’s really been the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but it’s exactly what I want to do,” he told the outlet. “I wrapped this first one, and it took everything I had, but I’m holding on to the rope and not letting go.”
