With Yellowstone’s fifth and final being put on hold due to Hollywood SAG-AFTRA strikes, many fans have been revisiting the previous seasons while others have been dipping their toe into the various spin-offs.

Yellowstone and indeed 1923 are connected with the show marking the latest addition to Sheridan’s rapidly expanding franchise.
1923 serves as a prequel to Yellowstone and tracks the history of the Montana ranch back in the early 20th century.
The spin-off stars Hollywood legends Helen Mirren and Harr ison Ford as Cara and Jacob Dutton respectively.
Cara is related to the Dutton family through her marriage to Jacob, who is the brother of 1883’s James Dutton (Tim McGraw).
This means Jacob is the great-great uncle of John Dutton III (Costner) in the contemporary Yellowstone series.
1923 is concerned with the history of America through the lens of the Duttons and their ranch.
Some of the historical events and themes covered in 1923 include the Great Depression, Western Expansion and Prohibition.
The show is slated to run for two seasons to allow this chapter of the Dutton family history to play out.
Along with 1923, Sheridan has many more stories in the pipeline including Lawmen: Bass Reeves, which is a spin-off from 1883 and focusing on the first black deputy US Marshall.
British star David Oyelowo will take on the title role and he will be joined by Dennis Quaid as Sherill Lynn.
Another spin-off is 6666, which will be a contemporary spin-off and focus on the Four Sixes Ranch in Texas after the complex was featured in Yellowstone.
Finally, 1944 is going to be a sequel to 1923 and another prequel to Yellowstone.
