“I will earn substantially less in 2023 than I did in 2022”: ‘Yellowstone’ Likely Ditching Kevin Costner After Ugly Divorce Reveals The Network Has Stopped Paying Him

Kevin Costner has suddenly become the talk of the town, and the reason is not what we might have hoped. While the actor has enjoyed fame throughout his long Hollywood career taking up roles that showcase his dependability in a crisis, it looks like he couldn’t see this one coming.

He has been living and breathing as a rancher John Dutton for five years in Yellowstone until his private life controversy got in the way. The legal battle has surrounded the actor to the point that reports coming out from his divorce papers suggest that the show is relieving him, which has upset the fans.

Without jumping to conclusions, we must take this with a grain of salt that his appearance for the second part of season 5 is uncertain but there is no official word on that yet. Creator Taylor Sheridan has spoken a few words but that has just added to the already existing confusion at hand.

Are We Getting Kevin Costner Back For Season 5 Part 2?

Since the producing network Paramount made an official announcement that Yellowstone is ending with season 5, rumors have been circling around on social media that Kevin Costner may finally hang his cowboy hat for good.

What’s more infuriating is that little tidbits of information from his divorce papers suggest that the studio has dropped the 68-year-old from its payroll effective immediately and he might not get paid for part 2 of season 5.

The actor also revealed that he may not be getting a lot of juice from the show this year compared to last year.

“I will earn substantially less in 2023 than I did in 2022.”

It is also being reported that only the contractual deals that he had participated in during the show’s run over these years would take care of his financial needs for the time being.

Taylor Sheridan’s Plans For Kevin Costner’s John Dutton

Looking back at the show’s successful run for five years, it is upsetting to learn that Costner’s chances of giving a proper send-off to John Dutton are bleak.

Sheridan has however revealed that he wants to maintain the glory of Yellowstone and for that, he would be willing to bring back Costner, but with a catch.

He spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about this –

“I’m disappointed. It truncates the closure of his character. It doesn’t alter it, but it truncates it.”

Maybe we are reading too much into it, but there could be a hint in there that Costner could wear the hat once again for his final appearance.
