Yellowstone season 5, part 2 could determine once and for all the future of John Dutton’s legacy and the final fate of the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch.
Yellowstone season 5, part 2 will be arriving soon and it is now confirmed it will be the last season of the hit show. Audiences cannot get enough of the acclaimed contemporary Western series by Taylor Sheridan, which has been a major success for streaming platform Paramount+. In fact, Yellowstone has already inspired two series spinoffs: 1883 and 1923, period dramas that serve as prequels to Yellowstone, and 6666, an upcoming series about Texas’ Four Sixes Ranch. Despite these expansions to Sheridan’s neo-Western universe, news that the original Yellowstone series will end with the second part of season 5 is a blow to many fans.
Yellowstone season 5, part 1 ended dangerously for the Dutton family. Rip and many of the other ranch hands make their way to the Four Sixes in Texas to save their cattle, leaving Kayce in charge of the ranch. Meanwhile, in a twist to Beth and Jamie’s rivalry in Yellowstone, Jamie gets the upper hand when threatening to reveal John’s involvment in multiple murders. Anticipating his family’s moves, Jamie gets help from Sarah Atwood, who convinces Jamie to hire assassins – not hitmen, but professionals who can make it look like an accident instead of a killing. It sets the stage for an intense showdown in the final chapter of the series.
Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 Latest News
The latest Yellowstone season 5 updates continue to revolve around the ongoing drama behind the scenes of the hit show. Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan commented on Kevin Costner’s exit from the series which was a major factor in bringing this chapter of the Yellowstone series to an end. While Sheridan praised Costner as an actor and insisted they had been able to work out any issues in the past, “once lawyers get involved, then people don’t get to talk to each other and start saying things that aren’t true and attempt to shift blame based on how the press or public seem to be reacting.”
Sheridan acknowledged that the main reason behind Costner’s exit was that he wanted to focus on his passion project, the Western epic Horizon. However, Sheridan didn’t seem to mask that he felt Costner’s decision to leave the series in favor of the movie was a wise one, saying “I sure hope [the movie is] worth it — and that it’s a good one.” Clearly, as much as Sheridan has some kind things to say about Costner, there are still some tensions at play which will make the ending of Yellowstone a difficult one.

Given that there are numerous spinoffs and this direct continuation, it is clear that ending after season 5 is a creative choice for the series and not the result of the show being canceled.
